Significance of UHB

Dairy farming is expanding in Bangladesh to meet the increasing demands for people. In some instances women in rural areas use milk production to contribute to their family income. The proposal (Udder Health Control Program) therefore contributes to poverty alleviation,
but also aims to contribute to improved health of the Bangladeshi people, by providing essential nutrients and by increasing the quality of the milk and by combating the development of antimicrobial resistance and preventing zoonosis. By addressing an animal health problem in a systematic way through development and implementation of an Udder Health Control Program (UHCP), this proposal has the capacity to bring about a long-term improvement and therefore contributes to a more sustainable and profitable dairy sector.
